Layoffs at Sikorsky

Sikorsky Aircraft makes helicopters. Very Expensive Helicopters for folks who don’t look at the price tag – the US Government in particular. They were the major industrial employer still left in the area of Connecticut where I used to live. Connecticut and fabrication of weapons of war have a long history.

Business is not so good lately. The reason for pointing this out is not that the US military is cutting its orders – but rather the bit about Turkey.

A long standing theory of mine is the United States wants to resurrect the Ottoman Empire with Turkey and its “moderate” view of Islam dominating the Middle East. Turkey is no Libya. They have a substantial capacity to make their own weapons of war – airplanes, ships, tanks – and shortly – Sikorsky helicopters. Turkey has steel making factories and has become dominant in the ship scrapping business. They are a member of NATO and the US houses “NATO” nuclear weapons at the Incirlik air base.

If Russia has territorial aims beyond Crimea, Turkey is holding important leverage.

    BTW- Ottomans have no arms.

Classic 1960s – Rob Petrie stumbling around or over an ottoman.

Yep! High level leaks can hurt. Let us see if Vladimir Putin can reign-in Turkey.
