The official description is “we play everything that nobody wants to listen to”, mirroring the Jack FM branding. Think of it as AntiJack
Clearly there is a concept out there of “alternative” that is not rock. There is also a more formal category in the Biz called AAA – adult alternative album. I guess it is music for 50 year olds who like to play the alternative albums they bought as teenagers because they hated the record companies selling records
