For those of you addicted to podcasts, stitcher has been down since last night with only very vague information. Stitcher was acquired by a French music streaming company called Deezer back in October.
This has the feel of a financial problem rather than technical. They may be a casualty of Net Neutrality. Be careful what you ask for. Neutrality requires a government referee.
Another example is T-Mobile’s new BingOn product. In short, it give unlimited data in exchange for lower resolution video – it is actually why I signed up for the service. I don’t want HD video to my cell phone using up my data plan – I seldom watch video on my phone and love the unlimited data for streaming radio. Net nutrality means that a government agency needs to hire bureaucrats and decide if I am breaking the law by buying this product…. and don’t forget the new judges and lawyers that the taxpayers need to pay for now.

A related note regarding the French – they want to control the website Facebook.com just because some of its pages were created by French users. Other countries want to control part of google.com. The point is that which Supreme Court decides? It used to be based on the location of the provider / seller, but all the small localities with the users wanted the sales tax from the many (really a buyers tax) rather than try to tax the sellers in their jurisdiction. The result is that all websites are subject to court rulings from any and all courts the world over. (I am simplifying some due to space limitations, but not over simplifying very much.)
… besides, I’d like to see the art work from France. 😉

As long as I can get French toast sticks with genuine HFCS syrup and buttery spread, I’m happy
Does Burger King still sell them? Had them many time back in the day before work while living in East Hartford. Those were dark times…
I haven’t had breakfast at Burger King in a very long time. I told the manager at the one near me in Connecticut that if the only milk they sold was non-fat, I would not be eating there again. Their explanation was they were not even carrying 1% milk to “protect the children”
Stitcher is still down, possibly for good
Here is background on how it works

Still down…
Stitcher is back online. I’m sure there must be an interesting story. Perhaps crypto locker encrypted their servers.
