The guys at Reason magazine (the Libertarians) have consistently suggested that if you are having problems with a person you love, the last option to consider is to call 911 to “get them help”.
Man shot dead in San Diego by police
A woman was with her mentally ill brother, an immigrant from a Uganda, at a Mexican restaurant when he started acting erratically. Keep in mind, the bar for people calling 911 has fallen to complaints at the drivethru that their McNuggets are not hot enough.
So the loving sister turns on her Facebook livestream and calls 911. Having committed no crime, having no weapon and no imminent threat, the man was executed by police for failure to obey a police person’s lawful order. He behaved like he had a gun, taking a shooting stance, but with no gun.
The priority in these decisions is that the police officer goes home safely to his family. In this specific situation, there was no dog to shoot, so it could have been worse.
One report says he was the head cook at Hooters.
You can get head at Hooters?
I think what these people are doing is very simple. They are so poor because of drug use and no jobs. They cannot provide for themselves and/or family so they go into a life of crime. At one point they reach the end where they want to commit suicide. But, the question, how to do it where my family gets something? Ah… suicide by cop. It has paid handsomely to some survivors and cities will continue to pay lest they be accused of… dare I say… racism.
