Want to buy WBT AM/FM and WLNK-FM?

Beasley Broadcasting bought out CBS Radio in Charlotte about a year ago, and now is acquiring Boston based Greater Media. The FCC just approved the purchase nationally, but since Beasley is already at the cap on stations in Charlotte, they have to push the stations into a divestiture trust where someone else runs the stations while a buyer is sought. Clear Channel/iHeart still owns stations in a divestiture trust called Aloha Stations since 2009, so the FCC isn’t really aggressive about divestiture.

Bob and Sheri’s syndicated show is produced at WLNK-FM – it will be interesting to see who “owns” them now.

Too late – Entercom is buying the stations for $24 million with the expanded band WBCN-AM thrown in

Well my prediction was amazingly accurate. Entercom took over WBT today under an LMA (lease until closing). They immediately fired the news guy of 31 years and the 9-12 mid morning host is gone. Entercom don’t need to know nuffin about the inner city ghetto of Charlotte

Streaming now requires registration. Good luck on that.

Man, that sounds like John Kasich is in charge at entercom ? Life is hard enough. You don’t have to be an ass in the process. Will they be picking up Chris plant show for the morning ?
Maybe Alex jones should purchase WBT, hire you ( fred) as program manager , ( If you wanted to do something like that ) and let it roll.
You could get interviews from Gov McCrory for alex. No beck.
    that would be wild !

The only Entercom stations I remember without looking are the one in New Orleans that played a big role in coordinating radio after Hurricane Katrina, and the one Howie Carr is on in Boston. In the big scheme of things, Entercom is better than Beasley. I suspect they will move Beck to WBT, and switch WBCN back to sports talk.keep in mind the city of Charlotte is mostly “not Conservative”, but the signal does reach far during the day into despicable clinger country.

WLNK-FM is the flagship for the Bob & Sheri show, which is a female friendly morning show. They undoubtedly have a contract.

30 years ago, the city would be ablaze with the demise of WBT-AM. I don’t think it even raises a whimper today. It’s hard to get excited over a station that carries Dave Ramsey on the evening shift.
