KUOO-FM is the official radio station of the University of Okoboji, located in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
The reason this station got my attention was trying to sort out stations based on whether they belong to public or private universities. The station has quietly been loitering in the “educational” pile of stations until today.
It turns out the University of Okoboji is neither public nor private – it is fake! ?
While the web site has some college related things, the station looks decidedly like a commercial station, but a bit like a spoof site – because it is. The University exists to sell merchandise at the Three Sons clothing store
