  2. A lot of interesting changes visible when comparing the current report to the first one from 2014.. less than 4 years ago!

I wonder how long it will be free to listen to streams. Printed media like paywalls. Sports audio likes pay walls, and somehow even over the air free TV has an internet paywall requiring a cable subscription before you can stream the free TV shows. iHeart is all set up for a paywall. Most if its stations stream in 60-120 second chunks that each must be requested and have a unique session ID and segment- not easy to listen to away from their site or their apps.

    1. Killer, I didn’t realize that about the iheart or that they stream in such large chunks. You are right , it is getting harder to listen to the stations on VLC or away from the app they chose to send out their stream. Its annoying, is what it is. a few good ones out there still.

    1. Triton is just the name of the folks who gather the statistics. Most of the companies that were doing streaming have gone out of business. Triton Media has a subsidiary that does streaming, but the purpose of the report is to provide something similar to Arbitron/Nielsen for the onlne world. If other streaming platforms modify their software to report data to Triton, then that shows in the reports even though Triton is not doing the streaming.
