Bible Broadcasting  (Website) is a global religious broadcaster, that owns and operates 35 radio stations and 89 FM Translators.   Bible Broadcast Network is located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

History

Bible Broadcasting Network begin in 1968,  when Lowell Davey decided to buy a radio station in Norfolk.  While he didn’t succeed in that, his idea became the basis of BBN.  In 1971, BBN’s WYFI-FM  signed on the air in Norfolk, Virginia.

The only top 25 market station is located in Lakeland, Florida

Ownership

BBN is governed by a board of directors with 8 members.  Mr Davey and his wife are President and Vice President of the board.

Funding

According to Ministry Watch, BBN has annual revenue of about $14 million a year.  BBN will not provide Ministry Watch with requested financial information, so they are rated “F” for transparency.     According to the data they did acquire, the ministry is stashing about 40% of its donations in the bank rather than spending it on the ministry. At the end of 2007, there were sitting on $31 million in cash (that’s more than 2 years worth of donations). General expenses are about double the average of similar ministries Ministry Watch monitors.

BBN is not a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Responsibility.
