| When I was 18 I started listening to Dr. Laura and I thought she was rude and ridiculous - I hated her. Now 10 years later, I wish I had listened to the advice she gave because my life would be so much better. But, now that I am older I realize she is right about most things, and if more people would listen to her - the world would be a better place. People don't like her because what she says is right - but they don't want it to be because they would have to change their ways and they don't want to do that. I went from hating her to considering her one of my heroes. She is awesome! | ||||||

| I'm convinced that people call this show because they lack a strong parent figure in their lives. Dr. L comes across as downright abusive and insulting at times and the response is inevitably "Thank you Dr. Laura, may I have another?" Yes, quite often the harsh response is deserved but I've had to change the channel many times because she is just so, well, mean. While she might spin it another way, she openly preaches subservience to men and short of physical abuse, will never tell a woman that the relationship is unsalvagable. I do agree with alot of her advice, and the show can be entertaining (the same way a violence can be entertaining) but I rarely reach the end of her show because I can't take it any longer. In the end, as angry as I may get with Dr. Laura, most of her callers are far more pathetic. | ||||||

| Dr. Laura responds to individuals with generalized advice that fits her own moral point of view. For example, since there is a greater statistical risk of child abuse from a step-parent than a natural parent, no divorced mother should remarry. Since some children are short-changed in families where both parents work, no mother should work (unless father stays home!) Such generalizations can cause her to give advice that could be disasterous to an individual. Why have live callers at all when her advice is already determined by the line she wants to preach? Sometimes she shows real kindness and concern, but all too often her "soap box" gets in the way/ Her snappy answers are amusing but carry the potential of doing real harm. | I cannot listen to her now. She does challenge what you think but he manner is that of a buldozer, taking no heed of those in front of her but simply riding right over top of them. A person may have certain things right, but the manner in which they are presented will often nullify their message. This is the case with Ms Schlessinger. I don't believe I have ever heard or read anything she's said which speaks of a humility of heart and a genuine love for people. Her love is to 'tell it like it is' which is an excuse for not caring about what she says and how she says it. What a dynamic woman she would be if she lived out 1 Cor. 13. That is the challenge for her and for the Christian Right who seem to march alongside her. Sad. Very sad. | ||||||

Every so often I listen to her to see if she's changed, and she only gets worse. I am a conservative, Christian woman, by the way. I can't understand how this woman manages to keep herself propped up in the media. | ||||||

| The show is unparalleled and unique (to my knowledge) in the way the host is able to vociferously articulate a morally-consistent perspective on societal issues, based on a historically-proven value system, and to then practically apply it to problems in everyday interpersonal relationships. | ||||||

| She's a modern day puritan. Probably responsible for 1000s of Divorces. I feel sorry for her husband. Reminds me of my 9th Grade Self Rightious English Teacher. I'm sure that 400 years ago she would have approved of witch burning. PS I'm a libertarian/conservative and rate her higher than Franken or Springer. | ||||||

| Dr. Laura promotes taking personal responsibility for the results of one's own choices. For their own happiness and moral well-being, those that would benefit the most from hearing her will probably never listen. | ||||||

| If you don't want to face the truth, then DON'T ask Dr. Laura. She tells people exactly how it is regardless of how harsh the reality. People ask her opinion, then they get mad when she gives it....well, you asked. I believe Dr. Laura gives sound advice to people. She can read people like a book just from talking with them for a minute. I believe she's right on target with her responses 99% of the time. People talk about her having problems of her own...who doesn't have them? I think you would be hard pressed to find a psychologist who had a perfect life and no problems. That doesn't mean they cannot give sound advice. I highly value her opinion even if I don't agree with her 100% of the time. | ||||||

| She loves to dish out advice she herself never followed when she was young. Listening to her show is unbelievably depressing as she batters her hapless callers with "tough love" --- no one, and certainly not Dr Laura, could be so upright without a strategically inserted stick! But if you like being nagged by yer mom, you might like her show. | ||||||

| Although her point of view is hard-line conservative, her direct approach it is what people facing difficult problems need to hear, not the wishy-washy pandering that some advise-givers offer. Dr. Laura is consistent in her views, pointed, and extremely knowledgeable. Don't listen if you are afraid to examine your own life choices and beliefs. | ||||||
