Regarding Radio, what is the purpose of having the FCC?

To make sure non-commercial stations aren't making money
To keep lots of lawyers employed
To waste the money of wealthy americans who support everyone else
To make sure all opinions are heard on an issue
To resolve technical disputes between radio station owners
To make sure every community has local radio
To test equipment for technical compliance
To ensure that radio station owners make a profit
To make sure the EAS is ready in event of nuclear war
There is no legitimate purpose, it should be ABOLISHED!
To make sure one owner doesn't control too much media in one city
To create jobs at the FCC
To collect fees and fines
To ensure compliance with international treaties
To keep people listening to radio
To make sure foreign governments aren't controlling our radio
To fairly allocate radio spectrum
To prevent new people from starting radio stations
To protect the value of radio station licenses
To do what the NAB wants
To protect children from obscene material
To investigate and then promulgate ways and means to hush Rush et alia.
