Ebola is a virus that kills people very fast and is close to completely fatal. That’s both good and bad. It’s bad because people die, of course. It is good \u2013 because people die so quickly that they don’t have a chance to spread the disease \u2013 unless somebody is stupid enough to come along and touch the corpse or try to help the person as they are dying. This makes the disease self-limiting \u2013 once all the people exposed die, that area of infection ends.<\/p>\n
The purpose of a quarantine is to fight people’s natural instinct to flee \u2013 which only ends up spreading the disease wider. The bubonic plague spread throughout Europe in large part because as it spread, people fled to avoid it \u2013 spreading it into more of Europe.<\/p>\n
Some “compassionate” person thinks it’s a good idea to evacuate people from Africa who have contracted the disease and return them to America. The plan is to keep them in an ultra-isolation ward in the hospital and hope that rigorous procedures will prevent the hospital employees from catching the disease. These are the same people who accidentally forgot they have some old smallpox virus lying around for decades.<\/p>\n

West Nile virus started as a single infection on the east river in New York near the United Nations \u2013 rather than draconian measures to stop it immediately, people in Connecticut were worried about spraying insecticides to kill the mosquitoes that someone might get cancer and 30 years. Now we have a nationwide disease that is killing many people each year. That approach makes sense if you believe that there are way too many people killing mother Earth just by being alive and governments need to do something about that.<\/p>\n
