About the time of the Charleston mass murder, fires at “black” churches became the topic of the day for national news and Barack Obama.<\/p>\n
Someone in Charlotte apparently heard the message. Briar Creek Baptist Church had a fire. One of the education buildings was burned down. While it was clearly arson, the motive was quickly determined to probably not be a hate crime. One of the main reasons was the sanctuary was not the target. Also, there was no “message”. The church was built in a former white neighborhood and was a thriving church based on the extensive buildings. The church now has only about 100 members, and still has a few white members.<\/p>\n
The BATF has said that they don’t have any idea of motive.<\/p>\n
