The Constitution does not require the Speaker of the House to be a current member of the House, only that the House elects the Speaker. The Speaker of the House presides over the Convention in July. Trump has no real option here except to demand that Ryan step down, unless Ryan becomes submissive and lets Trump rub his belly. Demanding that Ryan step down would be wildly supported by a large swath of Republicans. House members then have a clear choice.
