CPCC already has eight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpcc.edu\/about\/parking-maps-and-locations\/restroom-facilities\">gender neutral bathrooms<\/a> available.  CPCC is a downtown community college with no dormitories.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Transgender CPCC student Andraya Williams speaks out\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0vbde1Ti9Sc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/planettransgender.com\/transgender-college-student-andraya-williams-humiliated-by-piedmont-campus-police-says-enough-is-enough\/\">Planet Transgender<\/a> covered this the same day.  This was a planned deliberate provocation.<\/p>\n<p>By April 3rd, the so called &#8220;Human Rights&#8221; campaign and transgender advocacy groups had fired up the social justice propaganda machinery.   <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glaad.org\/blog\/north-carolina-transgender-college-student-faced-discrimination-restroom-use\">GLAAD<\/a> joined in.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/transgender-student-suspended-women-bathroom-article-1.1746243\">April 4th<\/a>, Andraya Williams was suspended from CPCC for failing to show an ID to security guards, which Andraya denies.  The NY Daily News covered the story.  The college suspended her until either she proved she had completed gender reassignment or agreed to use only the gender neutral bathrooms.  She refused.  <\/p>\n<p>By April 7th, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/local\/article9110732.html\">Charlotte Observer<\/a> was spearheading the effort to organize protests by public school students.  April 9th, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/alexa-diaz\/transgender-student-claim_b_5094925.html\">Huffington Post<\/a> took the ball to transform this into a national movement.<\/p>\n<p>March 2nd, 2015 the City Council <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/local\/article11908907.html\">voted again 6-5<\/a> to reject an LGBT ordinance, even after the transgender bathroom language was removed.  The Mayor pro tempore Michael Barnes was one of the four Democratic  votes against the LGBT ordinance.  Two of the four Democrats voted against the ordinance because the bathroom part was removed and they didn&#8217;t want a half way measure.  <\/p>\n<p>Barnes decided to run for mayor in 2015 and lost.  The new mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=mayor+charlotte&#038;ie=UTF-8&#038;oe=UTF-8&#038;hl=en-us&#038;client=safari#imgrc=bCuSkxIzrw5ChM%3A\">Jennifer Roberts<\/a>(who you would be forgiven if you assumed is transgender) and the new council member changed the balance of power and they passed the city ordinance asserting city rights beyond those agreed to in Raleigh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On April 1st 2014, a black transgender student at Central Piedmont Community College was approached by a FEMALE security guard after using a female only bathroom.
