I wrote at the time<\/a>. While going throug the Twin Peaks tunnel, the driver disengaged the safety system in the tunnel and put it on manual to hurry through the empty tunnel on the weekend. He was supposed to let the computer drive the train until the end of the tunnel, come to a stop, switch to manual and slowly (5 mph) pull into the station behind the first train.<\/p>\nAccounts at the time suggested the driver blacked out and slumped over onto the speed control, which computer control would have caught and stopped the train.<\/p>\n
But it’s MUNI’s fault for not correcting the behavior – since the lawyers want to sue MUNI, not the driver.<\/p>\n
