{"id":2991,"date":"2011-10-16T15:45:54","date_gmt":"2011-10-16T19:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/streamingradioguide.com\/startingover\/?p=2991"},"modified":"2011-10-16T15:48:16","modified_gmt":"2011-10-16T19:48:16","slug":"mlk-jr-monument-dedicated-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/streamingradioguide.com\/startingover\/?p=2991","title":{"rendered":"MLK Jr Monument dedicated today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/slideshow\/martin-luther-king-jr-memorial-dedication-14748384<\/p>\n<p>Delayed by Hurricane Irene, the statue of Martin Luther King Jr was dedicated today.\u00a0\u00a0 The highlight was President Obama channeling Dr King and declaring that Dr King would have supported Occupy Wall Street.<\/p>\n<p>The most interesting picture on that site is #12 &#8211; the only picture giving a shot of the entire crowd of 100s of people.\u00a0\u00a0 If you look closely, most of them are wearing white golf hats.\u00a0\u00a0 The original dedication in August expected a crowd of 250,000 people.\u00a0\u00a0 Most of the population of DC is within an easy subway ride to get downtown if they really cared.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t find a closeup shot in any of the video or pictures to indicate what (if anything) those hats say.<\/p>\n<p>Al Sharpton was in town yesterday for his own rally &#8211; the fuzzy pictures look like they may be hats for the National Action Network<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Raw Video: Thousands March on D.C. for Jobs\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IbWwiw8iKSU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The statue was carved by a man from China which has created tension within the black community.\u00a0\u00a0 They don&#8217;t like the idea that a non-black man made the statue to the man who taught us to look beyond skin color.\u00a0\u00a0 Others object that the statue is made of white granite, making Dr King look like a white man.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/slideshow\/martin-luther-king-jr-memorial-dedication-14748384 Delayed by Hurricane Irene, the statue of Martin Luther King Jr was dedicated today.\u00a0\u00a0 The highlight was President Obama channeling Dr King and declaring that Dr King would have supported Occupy Wall Street.
