

{"id":3561,"date":"2011-12-11T18:17:07","date_gmt":"2011-12-11T23:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/streamingradioguide.com\/startingover\/?p=3561"},"modified":"2011-12-11T18:17:07","modified_gmt":"2011-12-11T23:17:07","slug":"wells-fargo-forecloses-on-college-radio-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/streamingradioguide.com\/startingover\/?p=3561","title":{"rendered":"Wells Fargo forecloses on College Radio Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KDCV-FM (91.1) in Blair, Nebraska is now controlled by a receiver appointed by a court in Nebrasksa (this happened in July 2010) to manage the assets that were collateral to a loan from Wells Fargo Bank.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/licensing.fcc.gov\/cdbs\/CDBS_Attachment\/getattachment.jsp?appn=101398521&amp;qnum=5100&amp;copynum=1&amp;exhcnum=1\">https:\/\/licensing.fcc.gov\/cdbs\/CDBS_Attachment\/getattachment.jsp?appn=101398521&amp;qnum=5100&amp;copynum=1&amp;exhcnum=1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This has created an oddity that a Non-Commerical radio station in the protected non-commercial portion of the FM band is effectively owned by a for profit corporation.<\/p>\n<p>How did this come to be?<\/p>\n<p>Dana College was the licensee of this station.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dana College was a private school that was founded 126 years ago.\u00a0\u00a0 It had been in financial trouble and suddenly announced it was closing its doors after the accreditation agency decided the school could not sell itself to a group of investors<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/ap\/financialnews\/D9GMGJ2G0.htm\">http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/ap\/financialnews\/D9GMGJ2G0.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The proposed buyers currently run an &#8220;online university&#8221; called Walden University<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.waldenu.edu\/\">http:\/\/www.waldenu.edu\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So apparently, Wells Fargo had been carrying debt to cover the school&#8217;s deficits and moved to repossess the college.\u00a0\u00a0 The radio station and its license\u00a0just happens to be one of the things the school owned.<\/p>\n<p>If you think the name &#8220;Blair Nebraska&#8221; sounds familiar, you&#8217;re right.\u00a0 It was\u00a0the original home of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dlblair.com\/\">D.L. Blair, Inc<\/a>, the company that handles all kinds of sweepstakes and verifies winning entries.<\/p>\n<p>The town was formed when John I.
