One of the guiding principles of FCC regulation of radio is that the public has a right to know who owns and operates a radio station and a physical location a person can visit in order to communicate with the owner, that location must be within or close to the location of the radio station, and the owner must meet a number of rules – Being a US Citizen, not convicted of a felony, have no history of running unauthorized (“Pirate”) radio stations in the past, are the big ones.<\/p>\n
An important exception to this rule\/principle is that a non-commercial satellite broadcaster (like K-Love) may request a waiver that permits them to operate without a local studio or business office.<\/p>\n
More and more radio stations have no contact information beyond a PO Box and a cell phone, neither of which meet that requirement.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This makes it very hard to track down information on a station.<\/p>\n
