I’m 1000 miles from “home” and it happens. \u00a0I’m at Target to \u00a0buy some Lemon Pledge for my new home and I reach for my wallet and it’s not there. \u00a0 Oh crap. \u00a0Maybe it is in the car – nope. \u00a0Maybe it is on my desk at work – nope. \u00a0 Maybe it is in my apartment – nope. \u00a0Maybe it is sitting on the counter at the Comcast bomb shelter. \u00a0Damn. \u00a0 There is no phone number to call to find out.<\/p>\n
Now I’m out of state, no ID, no money, no credit cards, no insurance card, no parking stub for my car parked at the airport in CT, my original social security card is gone – I am *so screwed*.<\/p>\n
Then I notice a voice mail on my cell phone. \u00a0 “Hi, this is Mike from the Security Department at the apartment complex. \u00a0 I think we have your wallet and it has $51 inside. \u00a0 Drop by the Security Office when you get a chance.”<\/p>\n
I can’t construct an explanation of how they wound up with it. \u00a0Most likely Comcast got it and knew my address and connected it with the complex (I had their leasing agent’s card inside). \u00a0 It doesn’t explain how it made the 5 mile journey.<\/p>\n
Well, now I have met the security department (it’s literally right next door).<\/p>\n
So the adventure continues.<\/p>\n
