Jackson has agreed to a plea deal that includes significant jail time and his wife (who was a Chicago Alderperson) is not being offered a deal for her own corruption case.<\/p>\n
If you haven’t followed recent events, when Barack Obama resigned his US Senate seat, then Governor Blago was shopping around the seat to see what he could get for it. Mr Jackson raised money to try to buy the Senate Seat before it blew up and Blago wound up in Federal prison. President Obama felt it was his right to name his replacement which could be why Eric Holder pounced on Blago, but until now Jessie Jackson has escaped prosecution.<\/p>\n
This case is apparently not about that, but just basic taking of campaign funds and spending them on a $40,000 Rolex (he could have bought one on the Dan Ryan CTA train for $5)<\/p>\n
He was AWOL from his job as Congressman for around six months while in rehab for bipolar disorder while dad fended off all press inquiries on the basis that it was a private family matter.<\/p>\n
