A story has been bouncing around the media the past few days – as presented by the 911 audio, the nurse was ordered by the 911 operator to perform CPR on the patient. She refused and the woman died. bad nurse, bad nursing home.<\/p>\n
The 87 year old woman had signed a DNR (do not resuscitate) order telling the nursing home that in the event her heart stopped, she wanted to die and have no CPR performed to keep her alive. She collapsed in the dining room and someone in the room dialed 911 and so it goes.<\/p>\n
So just how do you keep people from letting nature takes its course when someone’s body gives out and they want to die?<\/p>\n
Some day I’m going to chat with a lawyer and ask “can you write up a living will that says I want every possible means to keep my body alive even if I have no money left and no chance of recovery”. Sometimes relatives push the living will to speed up their inheritance. Tough questions.<\/p>\n
