So you know that one guy who gets obsessed with putting up more and more elaborate Christmas lights until it consumes his entire income and life… Now imagine a town where all those people decide to move to and compete – welcome to McAdenville, NC – Christmas Town USA.<\/p>\n

The Christmas light display started in 1956. The lights go on December 1st and people drive there in their cars and gawk at the displays. I just read that Fox & Friends did a remote on December 19th.<\/p>\n

The lights of McAdenville went dark Saturday night – not because of concern over polar bears or carbon footprints or an order from the ACLU – but according to the TV news article “According to the Department of Transportation, the road near Lowell Avenue knocked down power lines causing the roadway to close. Around 9:45 p.m. DOT sent a notice stating “McAdenville Lights cancelled due to power outage.””<\/p>\n
