Charlotte is a city in conflict. It faces an influx of people who left other places they hate and then want to create this island of sophistication in the middle of North Carolina. This is not particularly new. One of the big friction points in the 1970s was the state’s laws against serving alcohol in restaurants. Restaurants in Charlotte would regularly get busted for breaking the law. The law was changed to allow counties to decide individually, but much of the state is still “dry”.<\/p>\n
While Publix grew up in Florida, the product lines suggest their target consumer are the “snowbirds” – People who live in Florida in the winter or move there after they retire.
