This has been bouncing around Places like Hotair since last summer and has come to a head. Republican FCC Commisioner Ajit Pai went to the Wall Street Journal (owned by News Corp) to blast his own agency for launching a “study” to send people into news rooms in TV, Radio and newspapers to gather information on how news outlets make their editorial decisions of what gets printed or aired.<\/p>\n
This is a really, really big deal if true. Most of TV and Newspapers have been silent because they think this is about “get Fox News”. It’s much more than that. It’s about turning our “free” press into government propaganda outlets through intimidation and regulation and oversight by political technocrats. FCC Democratic stooge Mignon Clyburn has been the force behind much of this.<\/p>\n
The FCC’s statement yesterday is weasel talk trying to convince you they suddenly had a pang of conscience or reread their pocket Constitutions. It’s nothing of the kind. They’re just acknowledging they were “outed” and do a better job of hiding it next time.<\/p>\n
This thing originated at the Annenberg School for Communications at USC. Here is the report they gave to the FCC about how to evaluate if media are meeting “Critical Information Needs” of the public<\/p>\n

Zachary Katz has left as chief of staff at the FCC in July 2013 to go to Annemberg when Barack Obama’s friend from Harvard Law School Julius Genachowski left the FCC. Pushing for government overseers inside editorial meetings is a bit easier when you aren’t constrained by the “negative rights” of the Constitution like the right to have a free press.<\/p>\n
