Melanie Morgan hits the big time

This is a BIG deal.

You may not have heard of Melanie Morgan unless you live in California.  She is a “lib who saw the light” Conservative who worked for quite a while on KSFO in San Francisco co-hosting a morning drive show.  Citadel let her go for cost cutting reasons, but also probably because her on air statements caused management lots of headaches with the San Francisco “community”   (think a Female version of Michael Savage).

Phil Boyce (formerly of WABC) is now firmly ensconced over at Talk Radio Network, the syndicator who syndicates Savage, Laura Ingraham, Jerry Doyle, Rusty Humphries, Mancow, Phil Hendrie, and Monica Crowley.   TRN is the only serious competition to Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio in Talk Radio.

The show has been in the works for the Washington Times to put together a show – if you listen to Savage, you hear their reporters on his show a lot in those “interviews”.   The show will air from 6-9 AM Eastern, putting it in direct competition with Bill Bennett and Quinn and Rose.

Today’s news is that Melanie Morgan will be the co-host.   In two weeks, she’ll be the sole host :)    The only question I see is – she lives in California and is married to someone who can’t move.   6-9 AM is 3-6am on the West Coast.   (and it’s generally a good idea to do show prep before you go on the air).    Is she going to move East and leave hubby behind, or try to do the show remotely in the middle of the night?   I sure hope they don’t do the “canned interview” method that Savage is  using.

The new show debuts June 15th.  Hold on tight.
