Do you know php and mySQL?

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog article about how Radio Station owners need to act responsibly and have a succession plan – knowing full well I was really writing that message to myself.

I have no plan, and the longer things go and the more people rely on this site, the more that concerns me.

No member of my family (such as it is) shows any interest in even visiting the web site, let alone maintaining it.   Only one nephew probably has the technical skills, but he works for Microsoft and was an organizer for the Obama campaign.  Fat chance he wants to maintain a linux server frequented by a bunch of right wing wing nuts :)    There are a core group of volunteer helpers, but most of them are fans of radio, not computer programmers.

I’m not making any promises about anything.  Those who have been nice enough to try to help know I can be opinionated and abrupt and hard to deal with.   Sharing and delegating gives me problems (hence the moniker Evil Micromanager)

But with all the things swirling around, if the Obama secret police come knocking on my door :) and whisk me away in the middle of the night, the web site is on autopilot.   Not that “talking truth to power” ever got anyone in trouble.  But you never know.

So if you enjoy reverse engineering other people’s work with little or no documentation for free, drop me a note. I hope the email inbox doesn’t overflow.

Tip:  If you’re interested in the thankless task, don’t start off by telling me a list of everything I’m doing wrong and how you would have done it better, even if it’s true.
