My poll is still hypothetical, but given his speech at CPAC and the crowd reaction, Rush is either thinking about running in 2012 or going to use his influence to push the Republican party towards the Conservative movement, or perhaps explode it into 1000 pieces that Humpty Dumpty will never be able to put together again.

While listening to Rush last night, the thought “why now” kept going through my head. He’s been invited several times in the past, but why did he accept this time, and why in such a key role?
Two names come to mind: Michael Steele and Newt Gingrich. I think this speech was to answer both of them. Only time will tell if this was a brilliant strategy or a miscalculation. I doubt that Rush would run for public office, but I do believe he’s passionate about getting the party back on track.
