Increased reliance on volunteers

As the number of stations streaming continues to grow, it’s grown to the point that one person (me) cannot possibly verify every entry every 30 days. A change has been made that will suspend a schedule item if it has not verified by a volunteer within the past 60 days.

What this means that is programs will start to vanish from the directory if nobody has made an effort to keep the listing current. If people don’t listen to NPR and Air America and tell the database that the stream still works, the listings will go away.

There are three ways you can keep your favorite programs alive:

  • When you click a Listen link and it works, click on the It Worked! Link
  • Click on the Random Stream button and sample random stations – click Sounds Good if you heard the right program.
  • Become a volunteer and become part of the systematic testing process.
