Six Flags has filed Chapter 11. This bankruptcy has widely been predicted since last summer when the $4+/gallon which resulted in large drops in attendance. The economic downturn hasn’t helped the situation. For now, the parks will stay open.

Just to confirm: Local Gannett paper right outside Philly had small blurb in today’s (Sunday) paper re this bankruptcy. Story said the company has huge amount of debt ($2.4 billion was the number, I think.) I thought the story was underplayed (in a news “round-up” listing inside the A section) considering there is a Six Flags park right near Trenton, NJ.
