Cherry Creek Radio is owned by a Washington DC based private equity fund. They arrived late to the radio consolidation party (in 2001), so were only able to buy the leftover scraps. They own about 68 stations, all in the Western US in small markets (they have a controlling interest in a group of 4 stations on Long Island New York).
The President and CEO of Cherry Creek describes himself as a “Radio Gypsy”, who would go to small towns with underperforming radio stations and a town that was on the way up, and improve the performance of the sales staff, make a profit and then move on the next town.
