NY Times loses 8,000 subscribers in LaCrosse Wisconsin… Story here
Heard this on local news in LaCrosse – seems some guy submitted 8,000 fake subscriptions and the NY Times paid him to deliver the subscriptions to people who never paid for their papers. He had swindled the NY Times for over $300,000 before they figured out there aren’t 8,000 people in Wisconsin who want to read the Times.
Thanks for the laugh…. business here is dangerously bad – grateful for the lift.
I wonder what he was doing with 8,000 papers a day he was supposed to be delivering… 8000 papers is a lot of paper. It would look a bit suspicious to dump that much newspaper in a recycle dumpster every day…. Maybe that’s how he got caught. I wonder if he is the only one… I wonder if he used the names of real people/addresses and if that would end up on those people’s credit reoprts…
