Well, today’s escalation news is that President Obama (did you know he won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize?) has authorized using drones to attack targets inside Laos…. err…. Libya, since they have been so successful at protecting civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
La… la… la….
I don’t get it. He is supposed to be the “anti-neocon, anti-war” President.
*Holding my breath until I hear the first of the vitriolic criticism from Congress and the news media that Bush would have received*
John McCain clearly is not a chess player. He has now set it up that if this thing blows up in ugly ways, John McCain was responsible for it. If things “work out” and Europe and the U.S. conquer the entire middle east and gasoline goes back to $.25 a gallon, Barack Obama will claim credit.
I think you’re right about the set up parts; that was clear during elections. Many times I saw Obama and McCain debate, and Obama baited a topic where he knew McCain would blow up, which I think had a big impact on his loss.
Slight tangent here, but I have serious doubts that this administration would let fuel prices drop so low. Decreased price would translate to increased consumption and more carbon emissions. Considering that our president is the person who said his cap and trade plan would cause power prices to “necessarily skyrocket”, it’s not happening.
I’m wondering where this is headed, too:

We have chaos in the Middle East affecting fuel prices and our administration is now wanting to investigate energy company fraud? Seems to be odd timing. Why weren’t fraud investigations important before now, when prices were even higher and less at the mercy of increased Middle Eastern chaos?
