The moment of truth appoaches…. the LMRP is going to be connected up shortly – it will latch underneath the flanges that joined the original riser to the BOP – all standard off-the-shelf stuff.
We should know before tomorrow if this is mostly over except for the cleanup, or if the thing explodes in a huge fireball and we’re going to have to wait until August….

The clamps are clamping…. assuming it doesn’t blow up or off, it looks like their guess was accurate – maybe an 80% reduction in the spill rate. As they fine tune things and get the second set of lines in place, that will probably improve.
Just pray for no hurricanes until August… :)
Word on the news is they’re going to try to pump in mud again (now that they have partial control over the flows and the pressures. This probably has a pretty good chance of success.
