Tammy Bruce says goodbye to “real”…

Tammy Bruce says goodbye to “real” radio, and Hello to Tammy Radio. I believe Friday will be her last day with TRN. Tammy seems convinced that she has a viable business plan because she outdraws Rush Limbaugh on a web site that she constantly promotes. I don’t see how you can pay a producer, a streaming bill and yourself a hundred people listening to your national show. We live in interesting times, so I guess it’s worth trying.

Wow, Tammy is planning to charge $5 / month for access to her podcasts for a show she was unable to build an audience for when it was free on terrestrial radio. She’s either a visionary or will be needing a personal bailout shortly.

I always listened to Tammy every Saturday nite on KABC or WMRL out of DC in case of a ball game. But she was always pretty good. I never checked into how she had more of a audieance than Rush. Couldn’t have been true. Anyway,

I like her. She’s come from the ‘far left’ and has a perspective a lot of our righty Talk Babes don’t have. I wish she wouldn’t charge for the podcasts though. I am pretty limited as a SSDI guy and even $5 a month–I humbly submit–is out of my “budget”

Mark Levin whom I really appreciate and respect has his audio up every day for 3 hours after 9pm EDT. And its editited so its mostly commercial free. And I love the guy: Get off the phone! Baahahahahahhahaahaa

I wish Tammy would reconsider and have a reply like Mark. I think it would help in growing her base for sure.

Well, I can answer your question about how she thinks she is more popular than Rush :) The “why” is harder to decipher.

TalkStreamLive is another directory similar to this, but significantly smaller. Compare the two web sites at Quantcast, a free service that measures “reach” of a web site
      http://www.quantcast.com/streamingradioguide.com
      http://www.quantcast.com/talkstreamlive.com

This isn’t meant as a slam on the other site, but when you don’t have enough data to even create a meaningful sample, that means a very small outside influence (like telling your listeners over and over to visit the web site) will seriously distort the “ratings”. I also go to great lengths to make it dificult for people to inflate ratings of their favorite show by clicking listen over and over. Tammy’s show was consistently around #35 for the week.

If you’re curious in the pecking order, I’m still the little fish compared to radiotime.com
      http://www.quantcast.com/radiotime.com

However, they have employees and costs and an expectation of making money some day.

Tammy was still streaming on TRN’s internet feed today. It was an assumption on my part that today was the day, because she said the show would stop in August, and the web site has no information on it about listening to the show on radio stations (if there are still any)

TRN hasn’t announced anything officially, so I guess they’ll keep streaming it until they have a better idea.
