Michael Savage’s book “Trickle Up Poverty” is scheduled for release October 5th, 2010. Unlike most of his recent self-published books, this book is being sold through conventional channels – the publisher is William Morrow (a division of Harper Collins). You can order the 384 page hardback version on Amazon for $14.57.
Dr Savage was quite concerned on tonight’s show. The next few weeks might be quite entertaining. His publisher handed him the schedule for the “satellite tour”. When he read “the interviews start at 6 AM”, he went semi-ballistic. He didn’t say whether that was 6 AM Pacific or 6 AM Eastern (3AM Pacific).
You’ve heard a satellite book tour many times, but may not have connected the dots. It works like this – the author of a book sits in a closet somewhere with a satellite dish (and a fixed TV camera if it is a TV interview). The publisher has lined up “interviews” with various hosts around the country. Most of them will not have read the book, don’t know who Savage is – he doesn’t know who they are – and they will be only half listening to his answers. Typically, they will be holding a list of “suggested questions”.
There is a very finite amount of time to deal with each show… you’re talking to Joe and Mary Lou in Waterloo Iowa for 6-8 minutes, then they put up Phil and Donny from Pierre South Dakota, then Jim and Suzy from Boise Idaho – who all ask the same list of inane questions. This goes on for 4 or 5 hours a day, for possibly a couple weeks. It’s probably an integral part of the contract he signed to get them to publish the book.
If I was crafting a definition of “Hell” for Michael Savage, I couldn’t come up with a better definition. Savage seems to struggle just to do 2 hours a day 5 days a week for his radio show. It’s just a matter of when he blows up, not if. I can’t wait until the first local host says “Good Morning Mr Savage, how are you feeling today?”…. Perhaps after this, he’ll have a better apprecation for how hard Glenn Beck works (or not).
Art, I can’t wait either.
And he seems to come unglued fairly easily on a daily basis anyway.
Which just makes it better.
He took the night off tonight. Maybe he is getting “prepared”.
A small Savage Note – his begging on the web site no longer says “Legal Defense Fund”. It now just says “legal fund”. Someone may have pointed out that plaintiffs don’t have “defense” funds. Sending him money is legally a non-deductible gift.
The fact he has millions of listeners, but frequently can’t get a single caller on the phone lines says a lot. Despite all the horrible things he has said about Sarah Palin, I’m certain Savage will claim personal credit for any election victories by the Tea Party. He claimed the Pledge to America was stolen from his unpublished book (until it became clear the whole thing was an uninspired flop).
