Now the moment of truth arrives – do people REALLY want a smaller government?

Governor Christie of New Jersey has just axed the construction of a new tunnel under the Hudson river connecting New Jersey to Manhattan.

NY Times Coverage

$600 million in Federal “free” money has been spent so far (which will have to be returned) – Governor Christie’s staff have discovered that the project will likely have huge cost overruns, to the tune of a total price of $14 billion (can’t let Boston’s Big Dig outspend New York!)… Half of the cost was Federal money, the rest spread between NY and NJ.

To put that in prespective, that’s about the same cost as the 31 mile long channel tunnel connecting England and France – but then again they didn’t have to pay off the New Jersey construction union goon squads.

Probably a smart move by Christie in the long run. Perhaps he noticed the union contracts didn’t contain a watertight warranty. :)

    Christie is one smart cookie.
We need to support him when we can.

A Christie-like is what we need to replace Barry Soetoro
