We knew she was leaving Premiere at the end of the year – now we know the destination. Satellite radio depends mostly on subscriber revenue instead of ad revenue. Dr Laura has several groups trying to shut her down – on Sirius/XM, she is insulated from advertiser boycotts and the FCC. It also could mean more minutes of show, and flexibility on not ending a call because of hard breaks.
Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Michael Savage will surely be watching to see how willing people are to pay for radio.
Glenn Beck has been on XM for at least the past 3 years that I know of, I dont know if Rush or Savage is on either Sirius or XM. The unit I own is or was strictily XM, so I cannot vouch for any Sirius program line up and I do not know if they share or split programing since merging.
The difference is that Dr Laura will be only on Sirius/XM, which will allow her to break away from the terrestrial radio “clock” format and FCC “obscenity” oversight and pressure on the affiliates. Rush, Savage and Boortz are the top holdouts to not be on Satellite at all.
Affiliate or satellite…what’s the diff? Conservative or not, who can listen to that woman? I’m thankful for any conservative opinion on the radio, but pah-leeze. Can you imagine being married to a mouth like her? Oiy !!
