Mancow hooks up with Dial Global

Mancow is going to get assistance from Dial Global – the folks who bring you Stephanie Miller,  Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann, Mike Smerconish and Bill Press.   Dial Global’s talk lineup was partly inherited from [Mother] Jones Radio – that originally carried Clark Howard and Neal Boortz from Cox Radio’s WSB in Atlanta.  (Cox Radio’s founder James Cox was the 1920 Vice Presidential candidate with FDR if that gives you a hint of his politics – Cox and FDR lost that race)

News Report

Mancow is not leaving Talk Radio Network (TRN) – his new direction is a TRN/Dial Global joint venture.   The new show will be from 6:30-11:00 Eastern time and focus on entertainment rather than politics.   He will continue to do his “local” weekend show on WABC airing in New York.

So he’s the one who will be replacing Smerconish when he drops the AM show in January…

I wonder when this new deal goes into effect? There’s been little to no sign of any on air repositioning. I get the feeling that Mancow will continue his current format for as long as he can get away with it.

Well the theory that Mancow would replace Smerconish fell flat. Every station that had been streaming Smerconish from 6-9 AM switched to TRN’s America’s Morming News, except for CBS’s WHFS-AM which picked up Doug Stephan. One station that was running Mancow had Zfox Sports today (Zakk & Jack take over from Stephen A Smith today.

WPHT doesn’t change their schedule until Jan 17th.

Busy day today. Lots of change at 3pm when DR Laura isn’t there. Dennis Miller also has picked up stations.
