The Western world, France chief among them only for a while, reminds me of once-strong men watching deadly vipers slowly winding up their legs, rigid with fear and fascinated at the doom moving ever-closer to their faces. Everyone knows what is happening, sees the clear and present danger but stand transfixed, enervated, and muted by the effete among them wielding white flags of political correctness and self-loathing. This swarm of intolerant fanatics from the deserts has afflicted Europe before. Only this time, I can’t conceive of a modern-day Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar coming to the rescue. And so we watch and wait. And so the slither continues.

Ah… El Cid Campeador, my kind of hero. How much Europe needs one today, but they choose Don Quijote de le Mancha instead.

“So has the caliphate already swallowed France?”
    Yes, and most of Europe.
    Good metaphor Hesperus.
What can we do about it?
Develop our own oil, and never buy from them again.

France has a history of capitulation. The Vichy government was one of the first to attempt to placate Hitler by handing over an orphanage full of Jewish children. Things haven’t changed much in seventy-some years.

    • JayMar says:

Yes, French history is replete with instances where the white flag was waved instead of the Fleur de Lis, or the tricolour.
