Milton Supman is dead at age 83. You probably knew him as Soupy Sales if you’re over 50 years old.

Oh, man… I know who he is. WNBC, 1980s, the midday jock between Imus and Stern. That, and the “postcard from Puerto Rico” incident… teehee… any wonder why there’s solicitation restrictions on kiddie shows these days?
Every once in a while, he would show up on the Joey Reynolds Show at like 3 AM…. apparently, much of last night’s show was remembering Soupy’s life
I enjoyed hearing the story of how Soupy got fired…. I’ve probably heard it before but…
He was doing a kiddy show on New Year’s Eve and had some time to kill, so he told the kids to go into their passed out parent’s wallets and purses and find those “pieces of green paper with men’s pictures on them” and put them in an envelope and write Soupy Sales on the envelope and drop them in the mailbox. According to the story, the station wound up with $60,000 in cash (and back then that was a lot more money…)
