A REAL hero – only the media “heroes” …

A REAL hero – only the media “heroes” which are usually people who have been captured or are victims of crime, Kimbery Munley is the civilian police officer who “took out” the shooter in Fort Hood. She ran right towards him and shot, even after being shot in the legs. She is an avid hunter and marksman – she killed her first deer at age 11.

If President Obama was smart, he would hop on a plane and go visit her, and then encourage all young people to take gun safety classes and learn how to shoot guns accurately. Like that would ever happen…

She’s a real hero…she ran to the shooting, not away. I don’t know that I would have the guts to do what she did. After Columbine, tactical training was changed and responders were trained to engage, but every officer had to know that they were sacrificial at that point…she was not deterred. This scenario will now be part of every officers training.
But Michael Graham had the best comment yesterday, “How perfect that a member of a religion that puts women in subservient roles would be shot by a woman.”

The article uses the term “Active Shooter Protocol”, which I did some reading up on. As you mention, after Columbine (and the Texas Clock Tower incident to a lesser degree), when there 1) Is an active shooter and 2) more potential victims within his ability to shoot – the first responder is empowered to “take out” the shooter and/or get potential victims to a safe place, not wait for the sergeant to show up to “take charge” or central dispatch to tell them what to do – in fact the first responder is in charge regardless of rank, until the scene is no longer chaotic… then the higher rank people can deal with the paperwork and clean up the mess… It makes sense.

two different sources are hinting that she may not have been the person who shot the shooter, or at least not by herself. This is starting to have the feel of the media writing a script that may not match the facts – like the way the entire Iraqi campaign got sidetracked by the capture of 1 female soldier and the media created story of her rescue, almost none of which turned out to be accurate.
