The head of Emmis has some conflicting opinions about streaming. He thinks it is great that wireless companies are advertising again, but that wireless streaming is not important for radio. He doesn’t have to “spend one penny” on his FM stations to add a new listener – but would likely pay millions of dollars to increase their licensed power or get a better transmitter location… Or pay for billboards or run cash givaway contests…. I’m just guessing that people who stream on radio have way above average disposable incomes and the technology allows targeting ads to specific demographics.
