Daytimer AM testing – it’s that time of year again (Winter)… There are still 637 AM radio stations (172 of which stream) that are daytime only broadcasters. With the shorter days, think about the time zone of the station and whether the sun has come up yet there :)…. If not, the stream is likely to be down or silent… That’s not “broken” – it’s the normal condition. Some daytimer AM stations do stream network programming at night for whatever reason, but their real transmitter is turned off.
Also be alert that most ESPN affiliates don’t stream the network programming, and many stations are marked as “local programming only”. Unless you know from the schedule that the stream SHOULD be up, then the lack of a stream is not an error – it has to be tested during the window when we expect active local programming… There is a checkbox to suppress showing “local only” stations if they are too annoying to test
Yeah, I’ve been doing most of my testing at night lately, which is why I have been loathe to report the mutes, especially if a prestream ad does play.
