Glenn Beck didn’t “touch a raw nerve” – he deliberately hit it with a 20 pound sledge hammer. The Soros echo-bloggers are copy pasting each other about Beck’s comment that “African American” is a made up “PC” term. There wasn’t any doubt that it was planned ahead of time and was done very deliberately.
Why would he do that? I have a few theories…
Combine that with “Negro” being added to the US Census……….I think they’re related, but I’d love to hear YOU connect the dots…it’s what you do best!
Well, the bloggers (and now the NY Daily News) leave out the context….. (the NYDN referred to Pat Gray and Stu as “guests” which just shows how clueless they are about the program)…
This was in a larger general conversation about the US Census and Glenn’s stand that the Census has gone way beyond what the Constitution empowers the Federal Government to ask.
This question is not on the census form itself (if I followed right), it’s on a study that the Census is doing to improve its racial classification system, which was demanded by Congress. Some black organizations are taking offense to “Negro” as being an offensive term, but that’s specifically what Congress told them to ask.
So that’s the background – Glenn and Pat and Stu then discussed that “African American” isn’t a race – there are white people from Africa who have immigrated to the US, and TV people frequently get confused and think that anyone with a black skin is an “African American” because they are trying to be “PC”… (like calling Barack Obama’s dad an African American)
I have several different theories, guesses…
– all publicity is good publicity
– it’s another trap for Media Matters
– he’ll tie it back to Eric Houlter’s statement about needing to have an honest dicussion about race in America
– perhaps putting a wedge between Americans who are descendents of slaves and Barack Obama who is half African, have American, but not African American
– he wants to get out of his contract with Fox TV and get the Imus treatment (pay off his contract and get a vacation for a couple years)
– he wants the federal government to drop the entire idea of racial classification (think of Glenn as America’s Nelson Mandela)…
