Jeff Katz has arrived at Boston. He’s now on the Clear Channel “Rush Radio” station doing morning drive. His most recent job was at WBT in Charlotte, NC (he was fired in December 2008). He’s a Conservative Republican lawyer who advocates for more government programs for children with challenges.

This is a big challenge – Boston is very much a “so how many generations have your family lived here?” town not receptive to “outsiders”. He’s got a tough job, and he’s going to suffer for not knowing the local politicians and issues – he is no Howie Carr.

It might be interesting to listen to and see what you think.

Jeff Katz is a blast from my past! In the early ’90s he had an afternoon drive-time show on Indianapolis’ WIBC. He was very engaging, had good numbers and left after a while for a larger market. His conservative point of view may not be welcome in Massachusetts, but Indiana loved him.

Jeff was a real bore in Charlotte. He seemed like a nice guy (he did charity work for the police, etc) but he was a huge step down from Jason Lewis. The other local hosts started to called him and Rush the “noon to six show.” If you’ve scanned the headlines at Drudge, you already know more about the day’s news than you’ll learn from 3 hours of Jeff Katz.
