WGN shakes up lineup – unless you live in Chicago and are over 80, you probably don’t care. The interesting aspect of the change is John Williams will continue to do his show at WGN (owned by Tribune Company) but add a 2 hour show at WCCO (owned by CBS) in Minneapolis/St Paul. This is yet another example of a host doing a show calling in from another city, but the station calling themselves doing “local” programming.
It would not surprise me if Jeff Katz is not living in the Boston area – but I haven’t heard enough of the show yet to pick up any clues. Looking at the traffic reporter via webcam is not a substitute for living in a city. If that requires an explanation, no amount of explanation will change a person’s mind.
Do you refer to the same Jeff Katz that is billed as “Live from South Florida” by WFTL? (Ref. http://www.850wftl.com/WFTL-Programming-Lineup/1534476).
Yes, that’s the same Jeff Katz. He worked at WRKO in Boston in the 1990s, WBT in Charlotte and several other jobs
