Jealousy is a very self-destructive emotion. Every usual suspect is echoing the claim that Glenn Beck “made” $32 million last year “bellowing” on Fox News.
Glenn owns his own production company. When Glenn gets paid by Premiere, he is paying the rent for his facility in New York City, paying Stu and Pat Gray and the rest of his staff – that’s a gross revenue number, not net. (As an aside, Neil Boortz doesn’t understand that a flat tax will do nothing to simplify taxes)
The TV hosts are just humiliated that a radio guy is making more money than them. Beck’s Fox job is a relatively small part of his income.
I’m looking forward to that expose on Oprah Winfrey and how she is carrying around all her wealth in wheelbarrows and not giving back enough to the Communisty…
Jealousy is technically the emotion felt toward a second party when the second party appropriates something you regarded as belonging to you.
Envy is technically the emotion you feel when a second party reminds you of your sense of impotence in the area you were reminded of. This reminding takes place at a sub-conscious level, and you believe the “reason” for the (envious) emotion is because of some unrelated characteristic of the person doing the reminding. To observers, the disconnect between the action precipitated by the (envious) emotion, and the expressed reason for the action, is a primary clue that envy is the real reason for the emotion.
Like power, influence and control over public opinion.
Thank you for playing.
