Is Newsbusters counterproductive? It’s …

Is Newsbusters counterproductive? It’s the same issue I often have with Sean Hannity, and once in a while with Rush. When some person way on the left fringe says something outrageous (“Dick Cheney should stop having sex with Martians and join the crew who blow up land mines”), publicizing those statements spreads the idea and draws attention to the fringe left. For the most part, if “conservative” talk radio ignored them, the fringe left will just dry up and go away ala Air America. Spend my time listening to your show talking about things I can change – getting Mike Malloy to get professional help for his issues is something I can’t change.

I don’t think it’s counterproductive to point out that the Left is whacked out and then to explain why it’s whacked out. During the ’70s when there was no “alternative media,” too many of the Left’s ideas were allowed to stand without being analyzed and / or mocked, and it led us to the era of Jimmy Carter and a time when Cher and Jane Fonda were actually considered intellectual. It’s counterproductive if “conservative” talk radio spends an overextended amount of time on statements that reflect some level of emotional instability on the part of their speaker, but in order to offer an overall picture of who and what the Left is and where they intend to take this country, one needs to show the boundaries of their thinking.
