Christine O’Donnell is the Tea Party’s choice for U.S. Senator in Delaware. WDEL-AM is the locally owned news/talk station in Wilmington and the highest rated (WILM-AM is owned by Clear Channel).
WDEL’s programming is all locally produced until the sun goes down – and then Laura Ingraham and Jerry Doyle air.
(The interview starts going badly at about 11:00 when she is pressed about her criticism of her opponent’s job of running the county)… She pokes her campaign aide, who wants to listen to a caller (not realizing that when you do radio, you have to wear headsets if you want to listen to callers). There is some note writing and off microphone conversations, but nothing particularly embarrassing.
The issue was the campaign manager asked if the cameras would be recording during the interview and didn’t get a clear answer. The campaign demanded that all video copies of the interview be destroyed. The lawyers for the radio station said “No”. The campaign backed off. Perhaps they realized that once something is on the internet, you can’t ever take it back and destroy it.
Delmarva Broadcasting is owned by the family of J. Hale Steinman – Jack Buckwalter, the chairman and CEO of the company died suddenly in August at age 79.
Mr Steinman earned his money in the newspaper business, primarily the newspaper in Lancaster, PA, along with farming and coal mining. He served in World War 1 and died in 1962. He went to Yale Law School. His family trusts live on.
His most visible involvement in politics was he was part of the Pennsylvania delegation in 1936 to the Democratic National Convention that nominated FDR for his 2nd term as President – the convention was held in Philadelphia. In 1936, FDR won every state except Maine and Vermont.
The latest Rasmussen poll shows Ms O’Donnell trailing 51%-40%
Why does the headline say that O’Donnell said it, when it was her campaign manager who said it?
