KVI-AM in Seattle, Washington has as its slogan “Conservative Talk…No Apologies!”.

As of next Monday, KVI is dropping Conservative Talk to switch to AM “oldies” music.

So Sorry.

It’s never necessary to apologize when you just cave in. Sorry.

Sounds like a act of desperation – by oldies do they mean are they will go all the way back to disco?

The stories I read said “60s and 70s music”, but the also said “oldies”. As we all grow older, what “oldies” means is evolving – when I started this, the dividing line generally was the Beatles – oldies was Elvis, The Letterman, Beach Boys, etc… post war up to the early 60s… but “Oldies” now includes the Beatles, Cher, John Denver… Elton John is probably about to slip into the category.

The fact they are switching to any kind of music on an AM station in a major market is the more significant part. The most recent ratins from Arbitron showed a 1.6% share. It seems more like the market was over-saturated with talk (in a city that is a big university town). Fisher also runs KOMO, which is currently All News – I wouldn’t be surprised if they move talk programs to that station and only do “all news” during drive time (like KFWB in Los Angeles)

KVI’s schedule was pretty weak – the local morning guy, 6 hours of Laura Ingraham, 6 hours of Noory, Mark Levin on a 3 hour delay, Hannity live, and Dennis Miller at 3AM

They actually used the term “oldies?”

The hipsters all dig that new lingo “classic hits” these days, daddy-o.

S-I-X Hours of a Ingram – – – maybe Soros was behind that schedule, take the weakest whiniest link and exploit your enemies (spell check gave me the choice between enemies and enema – still not sure if I choose correctly when it comes it Ingram).
